Leidos has a new and exciting opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer in our National Security Sector's (NSS) Cyber & Analytics Business Area (CABA). The Principal Software Engineer will serve as the technical anchor for a new feature/capability added to our product. The role requires a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and involves architecting, designing, and delivering robust technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Architectural analysis and design: deconstruct complex requirements and create design documentation following OO principles.
- Technical shepherding: lead the feature from concept through development, testing, and deployment.
- Cross‑team coordination: serve as technical liaison to Systems Engineering and other stakeholders.
- Team leadership & tasking: break high‑level designs into tasks, manage status, and mentor junior/mid‑level peers.
- Quality assurance: conduct rigorous merge‑request reviews to maintain code standards, security, and performance.
- TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science or related field, plus at least 18 years of relevant experience (or equivalent higher degree with fewer years).
- Expertise in Java (17+), Spring Boot, SOLID principles, OO design patterns, and REST best practices.
- Strong communication skills and ability to facilitate cross‑team collaboration.
- Experience developing technical documentation and mentoring peers.
- Mongo
DB data architecture (schema design, indexing, aggregation). - Docker for local development and CI/CD pipelines.
- Kubernetes orchestration and ELK stack for monitoring.
- Experience in PKI/TLS/SSL certificates.
- Knowledge of ICAM capabilities and integration.
- Familiarity with Confluence and Jira.
- Strong organization and time‑management skills.
