QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Holds Commercial Driver's License with Maryland endorsement for passenger vehicles
2. Has five (5) years driving experience
3. Complete the pre-service instruction as required pursuant to regulation .07A of COMAR 13A.06.07 and complete future in-service instruction as required in regulation .07B
4. Has acceptable driving record
5. Meets health and physical requirements as specified by the Board
6. Ability to carry out written and/or oral instructions
7. Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers, parents and students
8. Be at least 21 years of age
9. Received a negative controlled substances test result
10. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Operations
SUPERVISES: N/A
JOB GOAL:
To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy
the fullest possible advantage from the district's curriculum and extracurricular program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Drives a school bus safely and professionally.
2. Makes all necessary pre-driving inspections and immediate repairs, if possible.
3. Keeps accurate records as required by the Transportation Department.
4. Is responsible for knowing and following the Department of Motor Vehicle Laws, Maryland School Bus Laws and Kent County Requirements.
5. Reports any unsafe conditions on the bus route.
6. Follows Board procedure for reporting all accidents.
7. Participates in all mandatory on-site training.
8. Keeps an accurate list of student riders and follows the Board approved
route and bus stops.
9. Complies with discipline policies set forth in the Kent County Public
Schools Transportation Guidelines Handbook.
10. Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-county field trips.
11. Keeps the bus clean and in excellent operating condition.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Operations.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As found in the Agreement Between the Kent County Educational Support Professionals Association and The Board of Education of Kent County.
SALARY LANE:Bus Driver Lane. Step established by the Superintendent.
Salary Scales
BARGAINING UNIT: Kent County Educational Support Professionals Association.
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt.
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
