Recycling Laborer

RECYCLING LABORER 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday

Melwood-PG Campus, 5606 Dowerhouse Road, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772, USA

Starting pay is $22.66 and the position requires a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. The incumbent will be responsible for the daily collection, loading and unloading of recycling materials for preparation of shipment.

• Provide collection, sorting and processing of all recyclables.
• Manual/automated loading or unloading of trucks or other transportation devices.
• Ensure safe conditions exist at all times in and around the vehicle while in operation.
• Follow State, Federal and local military base rules and regulations regarding vehicle operation and material transport.
• Drive assigned route to all locations and collect, load and unload materials as required.
• Maintain accurate, complete mileage and collection information per contract requirements.
• Perform daily pre and post trip inspections of truck fluids, batteries, tires and safety equipment.
• Ensure equipment safety precautions are exercised to prevent damage in the performance of collection.
• Immediately report any accidents, damage, collision, injury, etc., through the appropriate reporting process.
• Ensure that all fire and safety precautions are strictly adhered to and material handling and delivery equipment are properly utilized.
• Other duties as assigned.

• The incumbent must be able to stand 90% of the work time and sit 10%.
• Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. and push/pull 50 lbs.
• These requirements are necessary to complete contract work.
• Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel and reach.
• Must be able to speak to communicate with supervisors, staff, co‑workers, etc.
• Must possess good vision and hearing.
• Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions of a warehouse atmosphere.

• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience working in the recycling field preferred.
• Must be able to meet contract security requirements.
