Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) has an immediate opening for a Shop Attendant. This position provides assistance in the maintenance of vehicles, equipment and shop facilities. The Shop Attendant fuels vehicles, checks oil and other fluid levels, and cleans windshields; assists in keeping accurate daily usage records of fuels, oil and supplies. This position will also service vehicles, change tires, make tire repairs, assist mechanics, and learn to utilize specialized tools and electronic test equipment.
The Shop Attendant will wash and clean motor pool, vehicles, and equipment and clean and maintain shop facilities. This position will also pick up and deliver parts and supplies, assist with inventory of all parts, oil, grease, and supplies, and inspect new vehicles and related equipment. This position pays $26.68/hr.
This job requires reading, writing and mathematics; therefore, a high school diploma or the equivalent is preferred, but not required. Experience in automotive maintenance and/or vocational training is required. The candidate must hold a valid Maryland Learners permit for a Class A Commercial Driver’s License or above prior to starting employment, with a good driving record and obtain a regular Class A CDL within six months.
Must also hold a current Department of Transportation Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
