Sanitation Driver

• Base Pay $22.9 - $26.98 / Hour
• Employee Type: FT Non-Exempt

The City of Takoma Park is seeking a Sanitation Driver to drive a refuse packer truck and recycling vehicle in providing trash and recycling collection for the City. Our drivers also assist the technicians in collection of recyclables and waste on the assigned route. The incumbent may also serve as a lead worker.

• Driving the refuse packer truck or recycling vehicle on assigned routes; assisting technicians in picking up refuse or recyclable products such as newspapers, card board, glass, cans, etc.
• Performing routine maintenance on truck by checking gas, oil, tires, battery and packer oil. Reporting all maintenance and equipment problems as necessary;
• May carry out lead worker responsibilities including training in job skills, assigning and directing work, making recommendations in performance appraisal, and reporting problems to supervisor;
• Responding to questions pertaining to trash from the general public;
• Serving as a relief driver for the Right of Way Division for snow and ice response during weather events;
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

The hourly wage for this position is expected to be between $22.90 and $26.98 and will be offered at a level consistent with the experience and qualifications of the candidate.

• High School diploma or GED;
• Two to three years of progressively responsible related experience; or,
• Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job;
• Valid Commercial Driver's License.
