The Bus driver position performs a variety of routine and complex transportation work in driving and coordinating transportation plans in support to the residents of Friends House Retirement Community.

- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Driver’s License. CDL Preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English as to be understood effectively by another individual.
- Must be able to accomplish all responsibilities without supervision after the training period is completed and do so without injury to oneself or other individuals.
- Use route navigation apps and knowledge of area to deliver residents to and from various destinations.
- Interact with residents in a professional manner.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
- Instruct residents on safe riding rules and regulations.
- Operate bus for the delivery, pickup and relocation of residents.
- Plan route to ensure the most economical use of time and equipment.
- Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for commercial buses.
- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisor of any conditions that are not correctable immediately.
- Report all accidents, vehicle damage, resident injuries, and mechanical failures. Complete required reports.
- Keep records on bus mileage, gas and oil consumption.
- Keep bus clean and fueled.
- Help residents load and unload packages.
- Perform a variety of duties in the operation of Friends House Retirement Community.
- Responsible for the execution of activities mandated by law.
- Work a daily schedule that is consistent with the time demands of the designated route.
- Work irregular hours as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 pounds. Moderate physical activity involved.
Emotional:
Demands are substantial because of constant interaction with residents and staff.
