Front Load Driver

Position Summary

A Driver-CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers. The driver must also ensure the vehicle complies with company safety standards before operation, adhere to all company, state, and federal regulations while driving, and complete daily vehicle condition reports (VCRs) to address any vehicle defects promptly.

• Perform a complete pre‑and post‑operation inspection of the vehicle to confirm tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order.
• Report any safety issues on standard reports.
• Safely operate the heavy truck along the designated route to the disposal site, reading route sheets, following maps, and servicing each customer as identified or assigned by the dispatcher or supervisor.
• Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with company safety policies to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
• Courteously interact with all customers, dispatchers, and others daily to ensure routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers, tag them per departmental procedures, and continuously monitor waste for unacceptable material.
• Clean the area around any accidental waste spill, adhering to all applicable safety standards and policies.
• Monitor the vehicle’s condition continuously to ensure it is operationally ready, minimizing downtime; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip when appropriate.
• Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs, and other reports as required.
• Maintain adherence to required productivity standards to ensure all customers are serviced efficiently.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Actively participate in the company’s ReSOP program.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
• Demonstrate good customer service skills, professionalism, courtesy, and a cooperative attitude toward customers and co‑workers.
• Apply effective time‑management skills to complete responsibilities safely and efficiently.
• Adhere consistently to company policies and promote safety standards without taking inappropriate risks.
• Maintain pride in work and strive to achieve all goals.

• Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.

The pay range for this position is $23.40 to $32.17, reflecting the minimum wage in multiple jurisdictions. The actual range will depend on the locality in which you are hired.
