Warehouse Material Handler – Port Deposit, Maryland
Hourly Pay: $20.00 per hour.
Ryder is hiring Warehouse Material Handlers to work in the safest supply chain environment with state‑of‑the‑art equipment.
Products handled: retail items. Equipment used: cherry pickers, order pickers, pallet jacks, forklifts, and other powered warehouse equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Package, kit, and/or assemble orders and materials.
- Load and unload inbound and outbound trailers; ensure all scanning is completed correctly.
- Help train dock employees on new procedures and maintain equipment safety.
- Secure the facility at shift end; investigate and resolve scanning issues and housekeeping.
- Perform picking and packing duties; check for evidence of product or container damage.
- Carry out tasks as described in location policies and procedures, including handling materials within associated logical transactions.
- Perform material moves with associated physical/logical transactions as required.
- Participate in workgroup and team activities to improve warehouse operations and related business functions.
- Perform housekeeping duties for assigned area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Six months of related warehouse experience required; one year or more preferred.
- Ability to operate powered industrial truck(s) such as stand‑up and sit‑down forklifts, cherry pickers, pallet jacks, including maintenance (battery changes, mechanical issue recognition). Intermediate skills required.
- May be required to operate manual and/or automated equipment such as a packaging line. Intermediate skills preferred.
- Powered industrial truck certification.
- Basic literacy, numeracy, and safety reading in English.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to enter data into the WMS computer system(s) in use.
- Availability to work overtime as assigned.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with all levels of the organization.
- Team player; self‑driven; flexible; can excel in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong multitasking, organization, time‑management, and follow‑up skills.
