About Shepherd Electric Supply

Shepherd Electric Supply has been a reliable provider of electrical materials since 1892. Our focus is on accuracy, timeliness, and customer confidence.

This Role Matters

The Inventory Representative ensures that what the inventory system displays matches the physical shelf. Accuracy is the foundation of our promise to customers and the key to efficient picking, quoting, and ordering.

Shift and Hours

Monday - Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm

Compensation

Starting at $20.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Key Outcomes Inventory Accuracy & Cycle Counting
  • Execute scheduled cycle counts accurately and on time, every cycle.
  • Investigate and resolve count discrepancies—identify the root cause, not just the number.
  • Maintain location integrity so products are where the system indicates.
  • Flag systemic count errors or recurring discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager.
Receiving Support & Put-Away Accuracy
  • Verify inbound receipts against purchase orders for quantity and item accuracy.
  • Ensure received product is staged and put away to the correct bin location.
  • Identify damaged, mislabeled, or short-shipped product and engage the proper process.
  • Coordinate with the Receiving team to prevent backlog or location errors during high-volume periods.
System & Documentation Integrity
  • Maintain accurate records in Eclipse for all count adjustments, transfers, and discrepancy findings.
  • Complete required documentation for each cycle count event—audit-ready, every time.
  • Ensure adjustments are recorded before end of shift—never leave a discrepancy undocumented.
  • Support physical inventory events by preparing counts, zones, and reconciliation records.
Warehouse Floor & Equipment Standards
  • Operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, scanner guns) safely and in compliance with training.
  • Maintain organized, labeled bin locations—address items that are difficult to locate.
  • Stage materials within designated areas and keep aisles clear and accessible.
  • Support the broader warehouse team during peak periods as directed by the Warehouse Manager.
Continuous Improvement
  • Surface recurring inventory problems—work to resolve them permanently.
  • Recommend process improvements to the Warehouse Manager when a smarter way to work is identified.
  • Cross-train on warehouse shipping office functions to increase team flexibility.
What Success Looks Like
  • Cycle counts are completed on schedule with documented results—no skipped counts.
  • Discrepancies are investigated and resolved, not just adjusted and moved on.
  • System reflects the physical reality of the shelf—count confidence is high.
  • Inbound receipts are verified accurately, and product is put away to the correct location.
  • Warehouse Manager trusts inventory data accuracy without having to check behind you.
  • At least one inventory process improvement has been surfaced in the first 90 days.
Who Thrives Here
  • You have a sharp eye for detail—when a number is off, you feel it and investigate.
  • You are organized and systematic, even with a busy and noisy warehouse floor.
  • You take ownership of discrepancies instead of passing them along or ignoring them.
  • You communicate clearly when something is wrong—you do not sit on a problem.
  • You adapt quickly to new warehouse systems and technology.
  • You understand that accuracy impacts customer outcomes—and that drives how you work.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of experience in inventory control, cycle counting, or warehouse operations preferred.
  • Proficiency with warehouse management systems; experience with Eclipse is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent attention to detail—accuracy in count and documentation is non-negotiable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work on your feet in a warehouse environment; ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to successfully complete pre‑employment screening requirements.
