Job Summary

As a Warehouse Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring optimal performance of the day-to-day warehouse functions, including shipping and receiving, picking, inventory management, inventory control, warehouse upkeep, food safety documentation, and data entry, to deliver our products to our customers in a way that reflects our commitment to quality and safety.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized and motivated individual with proven skills in warehouse management and optimization. This candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of warehouse management experience with an SQF-qualified food manufacturer. They are process-oriented, with a proven track record of driving improvements and achieving KPI goals.

Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership, Management, and Accountability
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and direction for warehouse staff.
  • Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure warehouse safety through training, documentation, and implementation of GMPs and company SOPs. Stay up to date with industry safety standards.
  • Set clear performance expectations and hold team members accountable.
  • Develop and implement processes that support department and company goals.
  • Maintain alignment with FDA, FSMA, USDA Organic, SQF, Food Defense, and Food Fraud requirements as they pertain to the position.
  • Assist in monthly internal food safety audits.
  • Conduct quarterly employee reviews of all direct reports, as needed.
2. Receiving
  • Oversee and assist with all inbound shipments to ensure accurate receiving, inspection, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and suppliers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure all inventory is properly labeled and stored upon receipt.
3. Shipping
  • Oversee and assist with all outbound shipments, ensuring accurate order picking, packing, and documentation.
  • Schedule and coordinate pickups with carriers to meet customer deadlines.
  • Monitor shipping accuracy and resolve any issues promptly.
4. Inventory Management
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using our inventory management system.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for inventory management system use within the warehouse.
  • Train staff in inventory management procedures and promote best practices.
  • Optimize freight strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
  • Work with logistics providers to schedule, track, and manage outbound freight.
  • Monitor freight costs and performance metrics, recommending improvements as needed.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Minimum High school diploma
  • Forklift training and certification with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of inventory systems, including cycle counting, order picking, and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of FSMA and FDA regulations is a plus.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations with precision and consistency.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to speak and communicate in Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as function effectively and comfortably as a multidisciplinary team member, where team results are considered more important than individual contributions.
  • Experience with third-party food audits is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications, mainly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Understanding of cleaning and sanitation concepts.
  • Ability to hire, train, manage, and coach staff members.
  • Ability to lift 50-60 lbs. multiple times throughout the day.
  • Ability to stand for the entire work shift.
