Physics Instructor - Full Time - Tenure Track
Yuba College is seeking an equity-minded, dynamic, collaborative, and innovative instructor to serve as Physics Faculty. Yuba College is located in Marysville, CA. The College is an Hispanic Serving Institution and serves over 3,000 students annually across a range of associate and certificate programs. Our small college setting fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative, student-centered teaching.
Yuba College seeks a strong, well‑rounded equity‑minded physics educator. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience or potential to be an excellent instructor at a community college and can provide leadership or contribute positively in areas such as development of the physics program and curriculum, keeping course offerings up‑to‑date and relevant, staying abreast of current trends in STEM education, collaborating with area high schools, and providing oversight of the physics lab.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate commitment to promoting and fostering a learning environment supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds through effective communication and collaboration.
- Organize and teach lecture and labs in all areas of physics, including but not limited to trigonometry and calculus‑based physics and astronomy.
- Organize and teach a diverse curriculum and engage in culturally responsive and accessible pedagogy.
- Provide instruction in accordance with course descriptions, outlines, class schedules, and Governing Board policies; evaluate progress of students concerning educational matters; develop and assess student learning outcomes; and perform other instructional‑related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate a commitment to participating in professional development opportunities that build effectiveness in areas of inclusion, intercultural communication, and advancing equity and diversity.
- Provide instruction in various modalities, including evening, weekend, distance education, and off‑campus instruction, as part of the contract.
- Utilize instructional technologies effectively for inclusion and accessibility.
Knowledge of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Possess a master’s degree in physics, or
- Bachelor’s in physics or astronomy AND master’s in engineering, mathematics, or geophysics, or
- Equivalent qualifications as specified in the Minimum Qualifications Handbook.
EQUIVALENCY REQUIREMENT:

- Capacity to innovate curriculum to meet contemporary needs of professional fields.
- Successful use of online instructional technologies.
- Experience teaching physics to community college students in an equity‑minded and inclusive manner.
- Background in developing and directing physics programs at a community college.
- Excellent collaboration skills working with department faculty and academic support programs and student services.
