Job Description

Yuba Community College District is accepting qualified applicants for the Studio Arts Instructor position. The role involves instructing classes in studio arts media such as painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and ceramics. The position includes oversight of one or more of the specializations above, including maintaining and ordering instructional supplies.

Basic Function

Instruct classes in studio arts media such as painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and ceramics. Oversight of one or more studio arts specializations, maintaining and ordering instructional supplies.

Essential Duties Summary

Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Art or Fine Arts or equivalent
  • Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area of Art or Fine Arts
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching all levels of ceramics from beginning to advanced
  • Familiarity with wet slab, leather hard, and coil method projects
  • High fired gas and kiln maintenance, loading/firing, Raku firing, and safety for students
  • Wheel throwing projects suitable for beginning to advanced students
  • Art studio maintenance and ordering of art supplies
Physical Demands
  • Comfortable working at heights above six feet, including walking on high catwalk spaces above the auditorium
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, and crawling
  • Pushing, pulling, guiding materials
  • Stand, walk on unstable surface
  • Lifting greater than 50 lbs.
  • Assemble, connect small objects
  • Reach to retrieve work materials
  • Guide power tools
  • Operate equipment controls, levers and buttons
  • Work near moving objects
  • Exposure to fumes, noise, extreme temperatures, sharp objects
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and nights
Salary Range

$70,971 to $113,905 per year (Full Time Faculty Salary Schedule)
