The Deputy Director of Public Works - Engineering oversees engineering operations, leading the design and construction of roads, bridges, floodplain management and municipal stormwater program compliance. This role provides technical guidance, manages budgets, coordinates with agencies and contractors, and ensures alignment with county priorities.
QualificationsEducation and Experience: Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, surveying, or related field and five years professional experience including two years in a management capacity. Preferred:
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and additional years of management experience in a public agency.
Licenses and Certification:
- Valid California Class C driver’s license within ten days of employment and maintained thereafter.
- Registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California.
- Continued professional development and continuing education activities for valid certification as required by the position.
Special Requirements:
- Must successfully complete an extensive background investigation, including Live Scan fingerprinting and credit check prior to hire.
- DMV printout prior to hire.
- Must file statements of economic interest with the Yuba County Clerk/Recorder.
- Will be required to perform disaster service activities pursuant to Government Code .
