Senior Professional Land Surveyor (PLS)
We are seeking a Senior Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to support and lead surveying efforts for water resources and land development projects throughout the Sacramento Valley and surrounding regions. This role is well‑suited for an experienced surveyor who values technical excellence, local agency coordination, and close collaboration with civil engineers on infrastructure projects that support growing communities.
What You'll Do- Conduct and oversee land surveys, including boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
- Review and analyze survey data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare detailed survey reports, maps, and drawings.
- Operate and maintain survey equipment, including total stations, GPS, and data collectors.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior surveyors and survey crew members.
- Conduct quality control checks and ensure adherence to safety protocols on‑site.
- Travel to various project sites, which may involve exposure to varying weather and terrain conditions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive surveying experience, with demonstrated responsibility on municipal and land development projects.
- California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required.
- Experience supporting water resources or infrastructure‑related projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of Northern California municipal standards, mapping requirements, and agency coordination.
- Proficiency with modern surveying equipment, software, and data management tools.
- Ability to mentor staff and collaborate effectively across disciplines.
Minimum salary for this position is $130,000 (negotiable based on the circumstances of each position and candidate). Benefits include:
