Assistant Engineer, Associate Engineer And Associate Civil Engineer Positions

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the positions of Assistant Engineer, Associate Engineer and Associate Civil Engineer for the Public Works Department in the Community Development and Services Agency. Currently, there are two vacancies that may be filled at either the Assistant Engineer, Associate Engineer, or Associate Civil Engineer level depending on qualifications. These classes are alternately staffed and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience, required certifications and demonstrating proficiency which meet the qualifications and expectations for the higher level class.

The incumbent to this position will perform engineering work, including preparing design plans, specifications and engineering estimates related to roads, bridges, culverts and other County infrastructure; project management; assist in developing and administering professional services or construction project contracts; review plans and inspect projects; collect and present data and prepare reports; provide information and advice to the public and perform related work as assigned.

Required qualifications, licenses and certifications, special requirements, and work environment details vary by position level. Generally, a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, along with relevant experience and certifications, are required. Additionally, candidates must successfully complete a background investigation, file statements of economic interest, and perform disaster service activities. Work environments typically include office settings with potential exposure to hazards at construction sites.
