Early Childhood Playgroup & Family Outreach Liaison

Part-time, non-union, at-will position

We are seeking an enthusiastic, relationship-focused Early Childhood Playgroup & Family Outreach Coordinator to engage families with young children from birth through age five. This position will plan and lead welcoming, interactive playgroups that promote early literacy, learning, and healthy child development while giving parents and caregivers opportunities to learn and connect.

The Coordinator will also bring information and resources directly into the community by attending family-focused events and engaging with parents and caregivers. Through these interactions, the Coordinator will share information about child development, early literacy, community resources, preschool enrollment, and other opportunities that support young children and their families.

• CDA, Associate's Degree, or higher in Early Childhood
• Experience in working with preschool children, particularly with at-risk children
• Ability to be self-directed and take initiative when given a variety of tasks and responsibilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and teachers.
• Proficient computer skills, including the use of Google Workspace, with the ability to navigate Google Drive, organize and maintain electronic files, and use online systems for communication, documentation, data collection, and reporting.
• Ability to work well with diverse families
• Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of the position

• Plan and facilitate engaging playgroups for families with children ages 0-5.
• Incorporate books, storytelling, songs, movement, conversation, and developmentally appropriate activities that promote early literacy and school readiness.
• Model simple activities and strategies parents and caregivers can use at home to support their child's learning and development.
• Provide families with information about early childhood resources, programs and community services and events; including developmental screenings and Help Me Grow.

• Attend community events, family activities, resource fairs, and other outreach opportunities to connect with families of young children.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with parents, caregivers, and community partners.
• Connect families with preschool, early childhood education opportunities, relevant programs, services, and community resources based on their interests and needs.

• Maintain accurate and timely attendance records.
• Collect and maintain accurate program data and report on activities, participation and outcomes to meet organizational, grant, and funder reporting requirements.
• Gather family feedback to help strengthen programming and identify community needs.
• Collaborate with early childhood programs, schools, libraries, community organizations, and other partners serving young children and families.
• Assist with outreach materials, program promotion, and special family engagement initiatives.

Employee must be capable of performing physical demands of the job, including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, and standing for long periods of time. The work environment has a raised noise level.
