As we expand our presence in North America, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced Sales Director – North America to lead our regional growth and establish Echandia as a trusted partner for sustainable maritime innovation
Role Overview
The Sales Director – North America is a commercially driven and regionally focused executive responsible for executing the regional sales strategy, managing key customer relationships, and leading a team of sales professionals across the U.S. This high-impact role will support both the CEO North America and the Global CCO and will be instrumental in growing our customer base of shipowners, naval architects, operators, and system integrators.
The ideal candidate will bring deep maritime industry knowledge, a proven sales leadership track record, and a passion for advancing sustainable technologies.
Key responsibilities
1. Sales Strategy & Execution
- Lead development and execution of the U.S. sales strategy in alignment with global commercial goals.
- Contribute to the global sales management team and provide input on global processes, tools, and planning.
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through proposal development and deal closure.
2. Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with shipowners, naval architects, shipyards, system integrators, and regulators.
- Serve as a trusted advisor by understanding customer needs and aligning them with Echandia’s solutions.
- Represent Echandia at industry events, trade shows, and key customer meetings to strengthen brand visibility.
- Lead and develop a high-performing regional sales team with a focus on collaboration and results.
- Work closely with central technical support for proposals, pricing, and system specifications.
- Partner with global engineering, product, and marketing teams to deliver customized solutions to the market.
4. Market & Commercial Development
- Monitor regional market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments.
- Identify new business opportunities in maritime electrification and emerging market segments.
- Drive contract negotiations for complex, high-value deals, with support from legal, technical, and finance teams.
5. Reporting & Accountability
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date sales pipeline, forecasts, and customer records via CRM tools.
- Provide detailed reporting and strategic updates to the North American CEO and Global CCO.
- Ensure adherence to corporate policies, risk controls, and commercial best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marine Technology, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 10+ years of sales experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership, preferably in maritime or energy sectors.
- Proven success in securing and managing large commercial contracts in a B2B technical environment.
- Strong understanding of maritime industry electrification, sustainability, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working with or selling to shipyards and design firms is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce, Hub Spot) and data-driven sales planning.
