English Learner Aide
Provide academic assistance for English Learner students and support to an assigned teacher or teachers. Assist in implementing Ohio's English Learner identification and parent notification/communication procedures in accordance with district policy. Assist the English Learner teacher in planning, organizing, and providing instruction to each English Learner appropriate to his/her level as determined by OELPA and in accordance with Ohio's English Language proficiency standards.
Carry out lessons for the achievement of Ohio's Limited English proficiency standards in an effort to develop literacy and language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) in all students. Support an inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interests, and abilities of all students. Assist the English Learner teacher in monitoring the progress and achievement of students who are mainstreamed, exited, or parent refusals.
Observe and evaluate student performance and development. Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development, as well as those records required by laws, district policies, and school regulations. Collaborate with English Learner teachers and classroom teachers. Communicate with linguistically and culturally diverse families. Organize and carry out Ohio's required English Learner testing (OELPS, OELPA). Provide, support, or organize interpretation or translation services as needed.
Employ and differentiate a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Monitor students in a variety of educational environments for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment. Carry out non-classroom duties as assigned. Participate in any professional training programs and meetings, as assigned. Assist with other duties as assigned by the Principal.
High School Diploma. Educational Aide Permit (or the ability to acquire) Alternative to the above qualifications, as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate. Willingness to acquire first aid and CPR training. Willingness to participate in other recommended training programs. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to work effectively with children. Ability to work cooperatively with adults.
Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue. Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, stretch, reach with hands and arms, stoop, crouch, and kneel. Possible requirement to lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to 25 lbs.

Based on the current classified salary schedule with appropriate experience and training. Fringe Benefits:
