Position Overview
The Sinclair Culinary Arts Program provides the basic knowledge students need to develop into certified chefs. Sinclair is seeking part‑time (adjunct) faculty to teach culinary arts courses.
Courses are face‑to‑face during day, evening, and weekend sessions at partner correctional institutions:
Ohio Reformatory for Women – Marysville, OH, and Pickaway Correctional – Orient, OH.
Starting pay for adjunct faculty is $1,046 per credit hour assigned to teach.
Position is open only to applicants who reside in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to work within one of these states.
Responsibilities- Teach curricula developed by the department.
- Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
- Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with departmental and divisional policies.
- Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, and use available instructional technology when appropriate.
- Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet the needs of diverse students.
- Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success.
- Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Adjunct faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than 12 credit hours per semester.
- Minimum of an associate’s degree in the content area or related field required; a bachelor’s degree in the content area preferred.
- Evidence of successful prior teaching experience is preferred.
- Professionalism and outstanding written and oral communication skills required.
- Ability to teach in a face‑to‑face environment required.
- Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies.
- Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse college community.
- Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia‑based instruction.
- Official transcripts for all post‑secondary degrees (if applicable) and successful completion of a background check will be required prior to the date of hire.
