Job Qualifications
Essential Functions:
* Evaluate and assess students' motor and physical development to determine the need for physical therapy services as part of an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Section 504 Plan.
* Develop therapy schedules and provide Physical Therapy (PT) services for students with motor impairments from preschool through age 22 in accordance with their IEP.
* Participate as a team member with responsibility for the identification, eligibility, and placement of motor and sensory impaired students.
* Participate in the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of the PT program.
* Assist in the development and monitoring of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students and to meet individual student needs; provide direct, indirect, and consultative PT services based on assessment and team input.
* Adapt school environments and recommend assistive devices or modifications to promote student independence, accessibility, and safety within educational settings;
Recommend and support the use of assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
* Plan and provide clear and intentional focused instruction based upon individual student IEP goals.
* Provide professional development and training to staff on strategies and tools to support students' motor and sensory needs.
* Recognize individual student learning and cultural needs and develop strategies to address those needs for the purpose of promoting individual achievement/success.
