The Yuba Community College District is seeking qualified candidates for this part‑time, temporary (Adjunct) faculty position. Part‑time instructor positions are filled as needed through ongoing recruitment. Applicants are contacted and hired year‑round based on college needs. This pool is open continuously and refreshed every two years.
Applicants in this pool will remain active for two years. - It is important to note that the District retains the right to extend time limits or initiate the recruitment/selection process anew at any stage.
- Education Code §87408.6 states that no person shall be initially employed by a community college district in an academic or classified position unless the person has submitted to an examination within the past sixty (60) days to determine that he/she/they is free of active tuberculosis.
- As a condition of employment, the position you are applying for will require that you provide fingerprints to the local police department. The fees charged by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI for the fingerprint report is the employee’s responsibility.
- Fingerprint clearance must be received prior to the employee’s first day on the job.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The person selected will be expected to organize and teach classes including but not limited to the following: U.S. History and an area of specialization – such as Western Civilization/European History, or African‑American History, or Asian‑American History, or Latin American/Mexican‑American History, or American Women’s History, or Rural History, etc. and to develop programs in conjunction with other historians. Evening and off‑campus instruction will be part of the contract.
Possible assignment may include Distance Learning (TV) and online courses.
Required Qualifications
- Possess a Master’s degree in History;
OR - Bachelor’s in History AND Master’s in political science, humanities, geography, area studies, women’s studies, social science, or ethnic studies;
OR - Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area of History.

- EQUIVALENCY REQUIREMENT: All applicants are required to meet the minimum qualifications specified by the Yuba Community College District by the application filing date. Alternatively, applicants must have obtained an equivalency determination from the District before the publication of the Recruitment Announcement. This ensures that candidates either meet the standard qualifications or have received official recognition of their equivalent qualifications. Please for equivalency application .
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
- Must have competency in all areas of applied business technology courses normally taught in a community college or in the first two years of a university.
- Must be flexible in the acceptance of new and changing teaching assignments.
- Must have the ability not only to adjust teaching skills to meet varying needs of the community and changing student interests but must also have the ability to organize and implement programs to meet these needs.
Experience
- Preference may be given to candidates with life or teaching which would demonstrate the clear ability to teach History to community college students.
PART‑TIME (less than .60 FTE):
Part‑time positions less than .60 FTE are not entitled to any District paid fringe benefits.
