Job Title:
Part Time - Welding Instructor
BASIC FUNCTION:
- Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Agriculture courses up to 10 hours/week.
- Organize and teach all levels of Welding classes.
- Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning.
- Teach day, evening and/or weekend assignments, including distance learning and accelerated courses.
- Assess Student Learning Outcomes each semester.
- Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired.
REQUIRED DUTIES:
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students.
Required QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The minimum qualifications are:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience.
- Associate degree and six years of professional experience.
- Equivalent experience.
- Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area.
- For masters degree holders, professional experience must be directly related to teaching assignment.
EXPERIENCE / DESIRED
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Previous teaching or related experience in welding or manufacturing.
- Professional welding certification.
- ASE certification or automotive repair experience.
- Experience in an auto body repair, painting or refinishing shop.
- Experience supervising or working with a diverse population.
- Qualifications to work in other departments such as hydraulics, automotive technician, auto body repair, or agriculture.
- Background using technology in the classroom/laboratory.
- Welding Inspector certification.
- Experience in metal fabrication.
- Life or teaching credentials demonstrating ability to teach Welding to community college students.
Range/Step Class 1-7 (Based on Degree and Teaching Experience).
Salary Range$1,377.25 – $2,306.66 per unit.
Benefits InformationPart‑time positions less than 0.60 FTE are not entitled to District paid fringe benefits.
