Job Title:

Part Time - Welding Instructor

Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION:

  • Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Agriculture courses up to 10 hours/week.
  • Organize and teach all levels of Welding classes.
  • Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning.
  • Teach day, evening and/or weekend assignments, including distance learning and accelerated courses.
  • Assess Student Learning Outcomes each semester.
  • Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired.

REQUIRED DUTIES:

Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students.

Required Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The minimum qualifications are:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience.
  • Associate degree and six years of professional experience.
  • Equivalent experience.
  • Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area.
  • For masters degree holders, professional experience must be directly related to teaching assignment.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications

EXPERIENCE / DESIRED

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Previous teaching or related experience in welding or manufacturing.
  • Professional welding certification.
  • ASE certification or automotive repair experience.
  • Experience in an auto body repair, painting or refinishing shop.
  • Experience supervising or working with a diverse population.
  • Qualifications to work in other departments such as hydraulics, automotive technician, auto body repair, or agriculture.
  • Background using technology in the classroom/laboratory.
  • Welding Inspector certification.
  • Experience in metal fabrication.
  • Life or teaching credentials demonstrating ability to teach Welding to community college students.
Physical Demands

Range/Step Class 1-7 (Based on Degree and Teaching Experience).

Salary Range

$1,377.25 – $2,306.66 per unit.

Benefits Information

Part‑time positions less than 0.60 FTE are not entitled to District paid fringe benefits.
