Position:
Economics Instructor (Full Time, Tenure Track) at Yuba College, located at 3301

E. Onstott Road, Yuba City, CA 95991. Job description follows.

Under the general supervision of the Division Dean, the faculty member will provide instruction in accordance with course outlines, schedules, and governing board policies; evaluate student progress; develop and assess learning outcomes; and perform other instructional duties as assigned.

The candidate should be a strong, well-rounded economist with demonstrated or potential excellence in teaching at a community college and contribute positively to curriculum development and community engagement.

• Provide effective classroom instruction utilizing appropriate methods and materials.
• Develop and maintain relevant economic curricula, including transfer agreements with four‑year institutions.
• Teach day, evening, and/or weekend courses, including online and distributed formats.
• Participate in program planning, evaluation, and decision making, and develop new teaching methods.
• Serve on departmental, division, and college‑wide committees and participate in governance processes.
• Comply with all institutional policies and procedures.
• Interact with area high schools and maintain relationships with higher‑education partners.
• Maintain currency and depth of knowledge in the assigned area.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds and promote inclusive teaching.

• Master’s degree in economics, or
• Bachelor’s in economics and a master’s in business, business administration, business management, business education, finance, or political science, or equivalent, or
• California Community College life credential in economics.

• Strong educational background with a master’s degree or higher in economics from an accredited institution.
• Experience teaching economics at the community‑college level or equivalent teaching experience.
• State minimum qualifications to teach mathematics and experience teaching remedial and college‑level math courses.
• Active involvement in economic professional development or associations.
• Experience with articulation to high schools and 4‑year institutions.
• Participation in departmental and college‑wide initiatives and committees.
• Commitment to teaching profession and enthusiasm for the college’s mission.

Range/Step:
Class 2, Step 1 – Class 7, Step 10 (New hires will not be placed higher than step 10.)

$70,971 to $113,905 (Per Salary Schedule for Full Time Faculty)
