Part Time - Sociology Instructor

Job Overview

The Yuba Community College District is seeking qualified candidates for this part‑time, temporary (Adjunct) faculty position. Part‑time instructor positions are filled as needed through ongoing recruitment. Applicants are contacted and hired year‑round based on college needs. This pool is open continuously and refreshed every two years.
Applicants in this pool will remain active for two years. After two years applicants will receive an email with information on how to remain in the pool.

• Foreign Transcripts: Must include a U.S. evaluation and translation. Click HERE for a list of acceptable agencies providing foreign transcript services.
• District retains the right to extend time limits or initiate the recruitment/selection process anew at any stage.
• Education Code §87408.6 requires a tuberculosis examination within the past 60 days for initial employment.
• Provide fingerprints to the local police department; DOJ and FBI fees are the employee’s responsibility.
• Fingerprint clearance must be received prior to the first day on the job.

Job Title: Part‑time - Sociology Instructor

Location: Yuba Community College

Basic Function:

• Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Sociology courses up to 10 hours/week.
• Organize and teach all levels of Sociology classes.
• Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning.
• Teach day, evening, and/or weekend assignments, including distance learning and accelerated courses.
• Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester.
• Participate in department, division, and college‑wide initiatives and committees if desired.

Required Duties: Demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Qualifications:

• Master’s in sociology, or
• Bachelor’s in sociology and
• Master’s in anthropology, any ethnic studies, social work, or psychology.

Experience: Preference may be given to candidates with life or teaching experience which would demonstrate the clear ability to teach Sociology to community college students.

Part‑time positions less than 0.60 FTE are not entitled to any District paid fringe benefits.
