Opened in 1988, our Marysville location is the largest site of the Smith Gardens family consisting of 60 acres, with 500,000 square feet of greenhouse space. Marysville is the primary site for perennial production, but also grows mums, hanging baskets and annuals.
Lead the inventory team to monitor and evaluate inventory readiness based on sales demand, specification changes, and plant conditions. Ensure maximum product shipment while minimizing shrink and maintaining accurate inventory data across systems. Oversee physical inventory accuracy and fiscal reporting compliance. Drive continuous improvement to support the company’s Bigger, Better, Bolder standards and achieve key goals like 85% sell-through, minimized shrink, and improved operational efficiency.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Lead and develop the inventory team to ensure accurate tracking and timely shipment of products aligned with company goals.
- Oversee scheduling and coordination to minimize product shortages and maximize sell-through.
- Build strong relationships with replenishment analysts and internal partners to align inventory with sales demand.
- Set availability accordingly to provide accurate crop inventory for the sales team for proper allocation and minimize deal location.
- Foster a safe and compliant work environment by upholding all company safety policies.
- Conduct weekly site inventory walk-throughs with leadership to evaluate crop readiness and determine ship-ready dates.
- Utilize inventory management software to track inventory and brokered products ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Review committed items reports and preliminary report to verify product availability for orders, downhaul, and transfers.
- Monitor inventory allocation and contribute to sales planning meetings with accurate data.
- Collaborate with Cost & Inventory Manager on physical counts, on-hand inventory, and year-end audits.
- Recommend adjustments to the corporate production schedule to improve alignment with company objectives.
- Perform all online operational duties, including inventory accuracy, Sage system and communication with online business coordinator.
- Oversee transplant crop counts and track product movement for identification and quality compliance.
- Coordinate with shipping to maintain proper processes during order changes.
- Ensure completion of the weekly cycle counts and assist in resolving any significant errors.
- Maintain accurate and timely product dump records.
- Provide photographic feedback to the Crop Planning Specialist regarding plant performance.
- Communicate production discrepancies to relevant departments for resolution.
- Comfortable learning and operating both proprietary and external computer systems.
- Work with the Continuous Improvement Manager to define standard work, boost operational efficiencies, and achieve cost savings.
- Collaborate with and provide backup support to team members across departments to meet operational goals and deadlines.

- Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
- Intermediate math skills include percentages and basic statistics.
- Minimum two years of experience in logistics, warehouse, or inventory roles.
- Minimum five years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity preferred.
- Experience with inventory management software preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Basic plant knowledge required.
- Three years of experience in a greenhouse, nursery, or Horticulture environment preferred.
