The Production Control Manager has responsibility to achieve safety, quality, and operational goals for assigned department(s) at the DENSO Maryville, TN location. This is accomplished by activities including but not limited to planning, goal setting, staff development, problem solving, and maintaining open and effective communication with employees at various levels.
Duties And Responsibilities- Supervises, evaluates, and improves team capability of exempt and nonexempt associates
- Provides foresight and direction while encouraging change and improvement
- Leads problem-solving activities for the department ensuring the correct root cause is found
- Increase departmental safety consciousness through daily/weekly/monthly activities designed to create a safe working environment
- Monitors and approves manpower schedules considering department labor goals
- Works with specialist input to determine root cause of significant problems with inventory, shipping and receiving
- Performs cross-line trend analysis of entire department or process
- Leads improvement activities including but not limited to job instruction standardization, supplier delivery, and logistical problems
- Tracks, reports, and follows-up on daily management KPI's for the department
- Evaluation of the procurement and delivery system to ensure 100% on time delivery at minimum cost
- Attends and participates in various meetings including but not limited to company G & Os, Department Projects, Key Issues/Problems, and Future Equipment
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned (includes all non-essential or non-major activities)
- Bachelors' degree or higher in Supply Chain Management or a related degree. Other combination of education and equivalent professional experience may be considered
- 3+ years' of supervisory experience
- Detailed knowledge of problem solving techniques
- Knowledge of Toyota Production System and/or lean manufacturing (pull vs. push)
- Knowledge of TS16949, ISO
9000, or QS9000 - Related experience in the automotive industry
- Experience with customer service in the automotive industry
- Ability to understand and perform basic arithmetic and statistical operations
- Basic understanding of production processes
- Good understanding of shortages, parts availability, logistics and ECI
- Knowledgeable on supply chain management practices
- Knowledgeable on Kanban systems
- Working level knowledge of Customer EDI
- Knowledge of material requirements planning and new product introduction processes
- Thorough knowledge of scheduling procedures and customer requirements
- Knowledge of new system set up including inventory control, visual control, computer, and communication systems
