Job description:
The Youth Minister of Fairview Church plays a vital role in helping young people develop a strong, personal relationship with Christ, equipping them to live out their faith boldly, worship passionately, and love extravagantly. By fostering a loving, nurturing, and service-oriented community, the Youth Minister empowers youth to grow spiritually, emotionally, and socially. A Youth Minister is called to lead, mentor, and nurture youth (grades 6–12) in their spiritual formation, discipleship, and engagement with the life and mission of Fairview Church, part of the Global Methodist Denomination.
Key Responsibilities- Spiritual Leadership & Discipleship
- Guide youth in their Christian walk through Bible studies, worship, prayer, and teaching rooted in Wesleyan theology.
- Foster an environment where youth are encouraged to grow as disciples and leaders.
- Organize and lead multiple weekly programs such as Sunday morning, Sunday nights and bible studies & activities throughout the week.
- Organize and oversee small group studies.
- Program Development
- Plan and lead weekly youth group meetings, seasonal retreats, local service projects, and outreach activities.
- Develop curriculum and experiences that reflect Fairview’s priorities—discipleship, evangelism, service, and missions.
- Be a liaison between the church and other community organizations, people, and resources that relate to youth and youth ministries. Work with local churches and organizations during youth events to grow community presence.
- Pastoral Care
- Provide counseling, support, and encouragement to youth and their families.
- Be available for crisis intervention and spiritual guidance, modeling Christ-like compassion and integrity.
- Be a part of their lives outside of Sunday by visiting them during lunch at school, attending their extracurricular activities, etc.
- Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for youth programs.
- Build strong relationships with parents, staff, and church leadership to ensure a supportive ministry environment.
- Administrative Duties
- Manage the youth ministry budget, maintain records of attendance and activities, and ensure compliance with Fairview’s Ministry Safe policies.
- Plan a six-month advance schedule for the Youth Program and coordinate with church
- Communicate regularly with parents and church leadership about needs, opportunities to be involved, events and ministry updates.
- Utilize different social media platforms, videos, websites, flyers and other local announcement avenues to promote and invite youth to events at Fairview.
- Be aware of resources for developing the youth ministry programming and participate in continuing education events and training
- Must embrace Christian discipline and Global Methodist doctrine and
- Professional Certification in Youth Ministry is A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Must have vision and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage and implement a youth ministry.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills, and computer skills.
- Must possess a proven ability to work effectively with youth, diverse individuals, and teams of
- Prior experience working with youth and their families
- A love of youth and a commitment to help them grow in their Christian walk
- Outgoing personality
- Frequent meetings with local Youth Ministry Pastors to gain fresh and current ideas for programming
- Attend Youth Training events
