Role Overview
This position involves supervising staff and unit operations while providing direct patient care. The role ensures delivery of safe, high-quality care, maintains professional nursing standards, and supports staff development.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise patient care activities, including staff scheduling, patient assignments, admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring smooth shift transitions and interdepartmental coordination.
- Provide direct patient care, maintaining clinical competencies and enhancing patient experience through role modeling and service recovery.
- Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, and collaboration with educators. Maintain documentation of staff competencies and certifications.
- Perform administrative and quality assurance tasks to meet regulatory standards, ensure compliance, and prepare for inspections.
- Assist with human resources activities such as hiring, evaluating, coaching, and performance management. May support payroll processes.
- Help manage unit budget and resources, contributing to organizational goals.
- Participate in planning and evaluating projects aimed at improving patient outcomes and participate in committees as needed.
- Perform other assigned duties.
May have direct supervision, including hiring, disciplinary actions, and performance management. Not considered management staff but has supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Nursing; or Nursing diploma/Associate's Degree with enrollment in a BSN/MSN program within one year and completion within four years.
- Two years RN experience in relevant area; supervisory experience preferred.
- Current RN licensure; specialty certification preferred.
Knowledge of regulatory standards, staff development, and quality improvement practices. Strong communication and leadership skills required.
