Position: Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Mashpee, MA

Make a lasting impact by supporting students with visual impairments across a dynamic educational environment. As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), you will collaborate with teams across three school buildings, serving learners from preschool through age 22. This is a full-time contract opportunity for a dedicated professional ready to provide individualized and group instruction while championing accessibility and inclusion.

Qualifications &

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution;
    Master’s Degree in Special Education preferred
  • Valid Massachusetts DESE certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (Vision Impairment license)
  • SEI Endorsement required
  • Familiarity with the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC), including compensatory/access skills, assistive technology, and collaboration in Orientation & Mobility
  • Experience with Braille, large print, tactile graphics, and low-vision devices is preferred
  • Previous work within a school setting and a passion for empowering students with visual impairments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Functional Vision Assessments (FVAs), Learning Media Assessments (LMAs), and other specialized evaluations to determine student needs and inform IEP development
  • Deliver direct instruction and consultative support to visually impaired students across multiple age groups and school settings
  • Collaborate closely with special education teams, families, and outside specialists for comprehensive service delivery
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional materials, ensuring accessibility through Braille, large print, tactile graphics, and technology
  • Support students in developing skills in the Expanded Core Curriculum, including independent living, orientation & mobility, self-advocacy, and access to technology
