The Clinical Manager at Fresenius Medical Care is responsible for ensuring quality patient care while maintaining efficient clinical operations. This role leads a collaborative team that delivers personalized dialysis treatment for patients with end‑stage renal disease or chronic kidney disease.

Purpose and Scope

The Clinical Manager manages and oversees the daily operations of the facility, ensuring cost‑effective facility operations in accordance with all legal, compliance and regulatory requirements and programs. The manager collaborates with the Medical Director and the Clinical Manager/Charge Nurse regarding the provision of quality patient care, overseeing all activities from admission through to discharge. The clinic leader has authority to make daily decisions to ensure the appropriate continuity of care and safety for patients and staff and markets available services through presentations to physicians and dialysis facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Clinic Operations:
    • Provides leadership, coaching, and development plans for all direct reports.
    • Partners with internal Human Resources, Quality, Education, and Technical Services departments.
    • Collaborates with the Home Therapies Program Manager to oversee the facility’s Home Therapies Program.
    • Maintains integrity of medical and operations records and complies with all data collections and auditing activities.
    • Accountable for completion of the Internal Classification of Disease (ICD) coding.
    • Responsible for all required network reporting and on‑site state or federal surveys.
    • Manages the tactical execution of short‑ and long‑term objectives through the coordination of activities with a direct responsibility for results, including costs, methods, and staffing.
    • Responsible for the administration of the daily business operations of the dialysis clinics, including managing the functions of center staff, quality of patient care, maintenance of the physical plant and equipment, and inventory control.
    • Manages the profit and loss and other financial aspects for the center, ensuring optimal operations to meet or exceed the budget and key performance indicators.
  • Patient Care:
    • Coordinates all aspects of patient care with the appropriate staff members, from admission through discharge.
    • Acts as a resource for the patient and family to address concerns and questions.
    • Oversees the timely completion of patient care assessments and care plans.
    • Manages timely patient schedules to ensure facility efficiency and develops action plans for missed treatments.
    • Reports changes in patient status regarding any clinical, insurance, or travel and transportation issues.
  • Staff:
    • Participates in the selection and hiring of new team members and ensures completion of new hiring orientation and mandatory training.
    • Ensures all patient care employees complete appropriate training courses and that licensures and certifications are current.
    • Provides support for all clinical staff members at regular intervals and encourages professional growth.
    • Maintains current knowledge regarding company benefits, policies, procedures, and processes.
    • Obtains clinical feedback for employee evaluations and establishes annual goals and conducts employee evaluations.
    • Documents any disciplinary actions and confers with the clinic Director of Operations and Human Resources when needed.
    • Manages staff scheduling and payroll.
  • Physicians:
    • Facilitates the application process for physician privileges and compliance with Fresenius Medical Care Medical Staff By‑Laws.
    • Maintains strong physician relationships and ensures regular and effective communication.
    • Participates in the Governing Body, an interdisciplinary team for each region, including MDs, DOs, etc., that governs policies.
  • Other:
    • Collaborates closely with the Clinical Manager/Charge RN, Medical Director, and physicians regarding direct patient care responsibilities and quality standards.
    • Coordinating all aspects of patient care from admission through discharge.
    • Addressing patient concerns, issues, and questions, including the review of patient satisfaction surveys.
