TRIO SSS STUDENT SUCCESS COORDINATOR
CATEGORY/LEVEL: PSS/7 (11-month position)
BASIC FUNCTION: The TRIO SSS Student Success Coordinator is responsible for overseeing, monitoring, and evaluating the academic support services provided to TRIO SSS participants. This position also supports admissions and advising functions as needed. The role requires a proactive approach to student success, ensuring the effective implementation of TRIO SSS program objectives while maintaining strong relationships with students, staff, and community stakeholders.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Starting salary of $39,142 to $47,025 based on experience. Benefits package includes Blue Cross/Blue Shield major medical health insurance; eye care, dental, life and disability insurance; paid vacation and sick leave; a choice of IPERS or TIAA retirement plans, and a variety of additional optional benefits.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Services, Social Work or related field required. Must possess strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate program activities, including occasional evening and weekend commitments, and travel as necessary for conferences, student events, or other program needs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in student services, program coordination, or academic advising preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Recruit, hire, and supervise part-time peer tutors, including conducting orientation, staff development, and performance evaluations.
- Oversee and assess the quality of academic assistance provided to TRIO SSS participants to ensure program goals are met.
- Serve as communications, marketing, and promotional material expert for the TRIO SSS Program.
- Independently design, implement, and evaluate TRIO Trojan Time and other academic success initiatives.
- Assist students transitioning from high school or other institutions to NIACC by providing initial academic advising and support.
- Maintain ongoing communication and relationships with TRIO SSS participants to foster engagement and ensure progress toward graduation.
- Facilitate individual and group advising sessions tailored to students’ academic and personal development needs.
- Schedule, promote, and supervise the use of academic support services, monitoring the progress and success rates of participating students.
- Collect, update, and maintain detailed records for TRIO SSS participants, academic support services, program objectives, and budget reports.
- Compile and submit end-of-year reports, ensuring all data is accurate and aligns with program requirements.
- Promote the TRIO SSS program to prospective students, parents, and school staff through individual meetings, new student orientations, classroom presentations, and outreach events.
- Actively recruit students for the TRIO SSS program through targeted marketing and admissions efforts.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate workshops on topics such as financial literacy, academic strategies, and personal development.
- Organize and potentially transport students to cultural events, transfer visits, and other TRIO SSS-related activities.
- Co-advise the TRIO & Friends Club, supporting student engagement and leadership development.
- Teach or co-teach courses, such as Success Seminar and Strategies for Academic Success, fostering skill development and student empowerment.
- Participate in professional organizations and conferences to enhance knowledge and maintain best practices in student support services.
- Foster collaboration across all college departments and stakeholders to strengthen student recruitment and retention efforts.
- Maintain strong organizational skills, demonstrate reliability, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Fulfill other responsibilities as needed or assigned.
- Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.
