Operating Room Nurse, Surgical Assistant

- Location: On-site in Mason City, Iowa
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,270–$2,390
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- Assignment End Date: January 17, 2027
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Call Requirements: Approximately 10–15 call days per month; every third weekend on call
- Holiday Coverage: Participation in the holiday call rotation
Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Iowa
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience
- Operating room nursing experience required
- Neurosurgery experience required
- RN operating room credentials or equivalent specialty verification
- Ability to work on-site day shifts and participate in the required call schedule
- Successful completion of applicable competency and credential verification requirements
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care throughout the perioperative experience, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.
- Support neuro and neurosurgical procedures while maintaining a sterile, organized, and efficient operating room environment.
- Prepare equipment, supplies, instruments, and the surgical suite according to procedure-specific needs.
- Monitor patient condition, promote safety, and communicate changes promptly to the surgical team.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Accurately document care, participate in surgical counts, and follow established infection prevention and patient safety standards.
- Respond professionally to scheduled call assignments, weekend coverage, and holiday call responsibilities.
