FUNCTION
The Account Specialist manages relationships with an assigned group of clients (including employers, brokers, and consultants) in the small and mid-market business segment. This role involves consulting on vision benefit portfolios, resolving issues, and managing the renewal process. A strong customer focus is required to ensure client satisfaction and retention. The Account Specialist will work with small and mid-market clients with an average book of business ranging from 10 to 1,000 members.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure client satisfaction and retention of assigned accounts
Manage relationships with current clients and deliver outstanding customer service
Serve as a subject matter expert on vision products in the insurance industry
Provide annual business reviews to major clients and brokers
Deliver accurate and timely renewal proposals
Partner with Eye Med Sales and Marketing teams to drive messaging to key clients and brokers
Respond to inquiries and issues with urgency
Communicate daily by phone with external stakeholders
Build strong relationships with internal and external partners
Maintain or obtain required licensing
Collaborate with clients to offer optimal vision benefit products
Finalize and implement negotiated plan designs and renewals
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
1-2 years in a service-oriented role with proven success
Accident & Health Insurance License or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong phone presence
Strong organizational and follow-through skills
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong customer focus and ability to anticipate client needs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and knowledge of vision benefits and/or insurance industry
Sales or account management experience
Experience using or similar CRM system
