This internship is specifically designed for individuals working towards a PhD who are developing proficiency in their field. As an intern or co-op in management, you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in a supportive environment. This is a 12-week paid internship, designed to provide you with a solid foundation for future career growth. The internship will take place from May (potentially early June) to August of 2027.

The Opportunity:

Procter & Gamble Beauty Care Global Product Stewardship is looking for a PhD student Intern to help build the data foundation needed to scale life cycle assessment (LCA) across Beauty Care. You will develop and organize life cycle inventory data, turning information from different sources and formats into consistent, model‑ready datasets to enable Beauty Care business to generate sustainability insights more efficiently and use life cycle thinking in product and portfolio decisions, supporting P&G climate goals.

The Ideal Candidate Has:
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail and a practical approach to complex technical data.
  • Interest in and comfort with working with incomplete or ambiguous information and turning it into clear, consistent data structures.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain technical work to different audiences.
  • Good organizational skills and a disciplined approach to documenting assumptions, methods, and decisions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and fill important life cycle inventory (LCI) data gaps and clearly document assumptions, data quality, and sources.
  • Organize unstructured and semi‑structured cosmetic‑industry LCI data into standardized formats that can support scalable LCA workflows.
  • Develop practical approaches for cleaning, harmonizing, versioning, and maintaining data over time.
  • Test the structured data in selected Beauty Care products for scalability.
  • Look for ways to simplify data transfer into LCA tools and recommend improvements that could support future automation.
  • Work with data covering product formulation, raw materials, packaging, manufacturing, distribution, and consumer use, as needed.
  • Capture key learnings that can support broader use of the approach across Beauty Care sector and other business units in P&G.
Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a PhD in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Ecology, Sustainability Science, Data Science, or a related field with a focus on life cycle assessment, environmental modeling, product sustainability, or data management.
  • Understanding of LCA principles, including cradle‑to‑grave modeling, life cycle inventory data, and environmental impact indicators.
  • Experience organizing, cleaning, and harmonizing structured and unstructured technical data.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Available to work a 12‑week internship from May/early June to August in the summer of 2027. Ability to work onsite 4‑5 days a week in office at our Mason location.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with LCA software and databases such as Sima Pro, GaBi, openLCA, or ecoinvent.
