Job Title:

Middle Grades Teacher

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment conducive to learning and personal growth and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary education.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Valid certificate/license as issued by the Ohio Department of Education. K-8, 4-9 SS, 7-12 ELA

* Must meet Ohio Department of Education "Highly Qualified" Standards.

PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Teach district approved curriculum.

* Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.

* Develop lesson plans and instructional material and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.

* Confer with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls and conferences to communicate students' progress.

* Collaborate with other teachers to identify and resolve students' health, attitude and learning problems.

* Select and requisition books and instructional aids and maintain required inventory records.

* Administer group standardized tests and competency tests in accordance with district and state testing requirements.

* Establish and maintain an appropriate discipline plan for the classroom and assist in maintaining discipline within the school environment in accordance with district discipline policies.

* Plan and coordinate the work of classroom aides and teacher assistants.

* Follow the assigned schedule, keep a daily lesson plan and prepare an outline of classroom procedures as approved by the principal.
