Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated, highly knowledgeable, and field-experienced Public Safety Instructor to lead our Law and Public Safety Career-Technical program. The ideal candidate will prepare high school and/or adult students for successful careers in emergency services and law enforcement.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Curriculum, Instruction, and Web Xam Alignment

* Instruct students in CTE pathways using state-approved CTE content standards.

* Develop daily lesson plans, formative assessments, and practical labs.

* The core curriculum delivers foundational knowledge across five vital sectors: the American criminal justice system, modern police work and public safety practices, and the correctional system and its services. Additionally, it provides specialized training in emergency management and homeland security for protecting America's critical infrastructure, alongside the operational essentials of telecommunication systems and 911 dispatch.

* The core curriculum delivers foundational knowledge across key fire service sectors: beginning with Firefighter I and II alongside the science of fire behavior and combustion. Additionally, it provides insights into building construction, specialized training for Hazardous Materials at both the Awareness and Operations levels, and the vital foundations of basic Emergency Medical Services (EMS) by gaining knowledge as an Emergency Medical Technician.

2. Hands-On Lab and Functional Skills Training

* Facilitate safe, controlled, and high-fidelity simulations across public safety disciplines, including patrol tactics, mock crime scene investigations, fingerprinting, subject control, and PPE protocols. Deliver comprehensive practical instruction in fundamental fire ground operations, equipment/hose handling, and targeted first-responder physical conditioning. Equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to secure vital industry certifications, such as CPR/First Aid, NIMS/ICS 100 & 700, Stop the Bleed, and state Firefighter/EMT or OPOTA-aligned credentials.

3. Program Facilitation & Oversight

* Maintain a safe, high-standard training lab that mirrors real-world public safety operations.

* Collaborate regularly with a Public Safety Advisory Committee of police chiefs, fire chiefs, and Public Safety Officials to integrate modern industry practices.

* Guide the program's CTSO (e.g., Skills

USA) to foster student leadership and competitive excellence.

Qualifications:

Education & Field Experience

* Minimum Experience:

5+ years of documented, full-time experience in law enforcement, fire services, or a combined public safety role (Public Safety Officer).

* Preferred Education:

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Fire Science, Emergency Management, or a related field.

Licensure & Certifications

* Teaching License:
Possess (or be eligible to obtain) Career-Technical Workforce Development (CTWD) Teaching License.

* Professional Credentials:
Must hold some active certifications relevant to the field (e.g., OPOTA Peace Officer certification, State Certified Firefighter I/II, EMT-B or higher, or Fire/EMS Instructor certifications).

Preferred Skills

* Strong classroom management skills with the ability to mentor high school and adult students in professionalism and ethics.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary:

Appropriate placement on the Certified Staff Salary Schedule established in the Master Agreement to be determined by education and experience.
