- High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree in education, child development, recreation, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with school‑age children required.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional environment.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Must successfully complete required background checks.
- Ability to manage a small staff.
- Flexibility.
- Willingness to participate in training opportunities presented by the Student Activities Director and Mason City Schools (includes CPR certifications and Vector Online Trainings).
- Ability to work well within a team.
- Assist with needs from the Student Activities Department as needed.
- Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Supervise and manage all aspects of the before and after‑school Extended Care program.
- Plan and coordinate age‑appropriate activities, enrichment opportunities, and student engagement.
- Ensure the safety, well‑being, and supervision of all students at all times.
- Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate program staff.
- Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and program records.
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and administration regarding student needs and program updates.
- Monitor student behavior and implement positive behavior management strategies.
- Ensure compliance with school district policies, licensing requirements, and safety procedures.
- Manage program supplies, equipment, and budget needs.
- Open and close the program facility in accordance with established procedures.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and professional development as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Student Activities Director.
