• High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree in education, child development, recreation, or related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with school‑age children required.
• Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain a positive and professional environment.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Must successfully complete required background checks.
• Ability to manage a small staff.
• Flexibility.
• Willingness to participate in training opportunities presented by the Student Activities Director and Mason City Schools (includes CPR certifications and Vector Online Trainings).
• Ability to work well within a team.
• Assist with needs from the Student Activities Department as needed.

• Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.

• Supervise and manage all aspects of the before and after‑school Extended Care program.
• Plan and coordinate age‑appropriate activities, enrichment opportunities, and student engagement.
• Ensure the safety, well‑being, and supervision of all students at all times.
• Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate program staff.
• Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and program records.
• Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and administration regarding student needs and program updates.
• Monitor student behavior and implement positive behavior management strategies.
• Ensure compliance with school district policies, licensing requirements, and safety procedures.
• Manage program supplies, equipment, and budget needs.
• Open and close the program facility in accordance with established procedures.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and professional development as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Student Activities Director.
