REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess or qualify for Intervention Specialist Mild/Moderate license from the Ohio Department of Education
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Provides an educational program for students as defined in the students Individualized Education Program (I.E.P.)
* Works cooperatively with regular classroom teachers, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of these students, assisting in classroom intervention strategies, modifying general education curricular as necessary, and assisting the student with regular class assignments.
* Communicates regularly with parents and professional staff regarding the educational, social, and personal needs of students.
* Assists the special education student in assessing his/her abilities and in establishing educational and vocational occupational goals in keeping with these abilities.
* Participates as a member of the Student Concerns Team as directed by the building principal.
* Develops and implements an Individualized Educational Program of each child, complimentary to his/her educational strengths and needs as defined through the evaluation team report and I.E.P. process, and Regular Education Curriculum.
* Implements specially designed instruction and monitors IEP goals and objectives.
* Completes necessary reports and record keeping as required by state and local policies and procedures.
* Participates in professional growth activities through staff development, in-service, workshops, and higher education.
* Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
* Develops and implements Individual Educational Plans (IEP) that meet the individual needs of students as determined by multi-disciplinary assessment.
* Assesses the progress of each student on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
* Consults regularly with other school personnel who have a vested interest in each student's progress.
* Consults and communicates regularly with parents regarding the progress of their child.
* Diagnoses the learning needs of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
* Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct.
* Schedules, plans, and coordinates the necessary meetings for the IEP and Evaluation Team Report (ETR) within all state required timelines.
* Works closely with classroom teachers in order to meet the goals and objectives of the IEP.
* Develops in conjunction with the classroom teachers and specialists, any accommodation and/or modifications needed as required by the IEP.
* Uses student progress data and other assessment information to develop individualized instruction.
* Maintains confidentiality as regarding student records and information.
* Maintains up to date knowledge of technology utilized by the district.
* Must satisfy all job-related attendance requirements.
* A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
Availability of Position:
August 1, 2026
Salary Range:
Minimum $47,939.55
Placement on the salary schedule is commensurate with educational preparation and work experience in the field 185-day contract.
