Harris Technologies' Missile Solutions segment is a world-recognized leader in propulsion systems for space, missile defense, strategic missiles, and tactical systems. We are seeking an experienced Director, Quality Management to lead our newly created Advanced Effects sector. This role is critical to ensuring the highest standards of quality, reliability, and mission success in our aerospace and defense programs.

The Director of Quality will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Quality organization within the Advanced Effects sector of L3

Harris Missile Solutions. This high-impact role drives quality excellence across the design, development, manufacturing, and sustainment of advanced launched effects, fuzes, seekers, sensors, electronic warfare payloads, kinetic effectors, and modular systems. You will foster a zero-defect culture, ensure strict compliance with aerospace/defense standards, and support mission assurance for critical DoD programs in contested environments.

This position offers the chance to define and execute quality strategy for a rapidly growing, high-priority portfolio aligned with national defense imperatives for affordable, scalable, and swarming-capable advanced effects technologies.

Essential Functions:
  • Lead the Advanced Effects Quality team, including talent acquisition, development, mentoring, and performance management of quality engineers, inspectors, and assurance professionals.
  • Develop and deploy sector-specific quality strategies, policies, and processes to deliver world-class performance in full compliance with AS9100,
  • DoD/customer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Oversee end-to-end quality activities: planning, supplier quality, product verification/validation, nonconformance management, root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, PFMEA), and corrective/preventive actions using statistical and lean tools.
  • Champion continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma) to enhance first-time yield, reduce defects, and lower cost of poor quality across programs.
  • Integrate quality requirements into all program phases-from proposal to sustainment-partnering closely with Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Test functions.
  • Manage internal/external audits, source inspections, and interactions with government quality assurance representatives (QARs).
  • Define, track, and report key quality metrics/KPIs to senior leadership and contribute to mission success and risk reviews.
  • Identify and mitigate quality risks unique to advanced effects technologies, including sensors, fuzes, electronic warfare, and modular launched systems.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and mission focus while ensuring compliance with ITAR, FAR/DFARS, export controls, and other regulations.
  • Up to 40% business travel for program support, supplier oversight, audits, or customer engagements.
  • Ability to obtain US Secret Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 15 years of prior Quality experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 13 years of prior related quality experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related quality experience.
  • 5+ years exeprinece in the Aerospace and Defense industry executing Department of War (DOW) contracts.
  • 5+ years of direct leadership experience managing quality teams in complex, multi-site, or matrixed organizations supporting defense or aerospace programs.
  • 5+ years expereince implementing and maintaining AS9100/ISO 9001 quality management systems, including GD&T, SPC, APQP/PPAP, and advanced problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, Fishbone, Pareto).
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience building, developing, and motivating high-performing teams in dynamic, fast-paced settings.
