Tool Design Engineer

Hi‑Tek Manufacturing is seeking an experienced Tool Design Engineer to advance a career in advanced manufacturing technology. This onsite position reports to the Tool Room Supervisor and involves designing complex dies, tools, gauges, jigs, and fixtures based on process sheets and parts prints. The role requires thorough knowledge of manufacturing methods, tool shop practices, and mathematics to solve design problems; proficiency with CAD and 3‑D graphics is essential.
Essential Tasks:
- Design simple, cost‑effective tooling that meets process needs and customer commitments.
- Visualize in 3D and communicate spatially.
- Maintain working knowledge of tool design within 3‑D graphics.
- Plan, research, and implement engineering solutions on complex tooling projects.
- Create and maintain BOMs, part numbers, prints, and technical documentation for manufacture and operation.
- Participate in product and tooling design reviews and critique designs from a technical perspective, including Design for Manufacturability.
- Coordinate with cross‑functional teams on tooling projects.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of tooling processes to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
- Support other engineers on significant projects.
- Perform under AS9100 quality standards and NADCAP accreditation.
- Follow Hi‑Tek policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
Education and Experience:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline preferred; equivalent experience considered in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years of tool design experience with emphasis on tool‑holding fixtures.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX.
- Knowledge of GD&T, dimensional analysis, and SPC.
- Experience developing new tooling designs or major upgrades for various tooling types.
- Proficiency in mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
- Must meet ITAR definition of §120.15 U.S. person.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate clearly in English.

Shift: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
