We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong knowledge of job area and broad knowledge of project management. Will manage complex projects or processes with general oversight. Communicates within and outside of own function to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures. Makes moderate to substantial improvements to systems and processes. Contributes to achievement of departmental goals and operating plans with direct impact on the departmental results.

Mechanical Engineers at in the L3

Harris Space & Sensors Division are responsible for a wide range of assignments, including design, analysis, and test of opto-mechanical, and electro-optical systems. These systems have demanding functional and performance requirements and must operate in extremely challenging environments. Mechanical Engineers will follow the product from conceptualization through hardware integration and testing, and will interface with Designers, Systems Engineers, as well as other discipline engineers, Program Managers and customer counterparts.

Duties may include CAD design, detailed finite element analysis, vendor and integration support, as well as hardware characterization testing.

The selected individual will be responsible for various analyses on multiple prototype development teams. The individual must demonstrate the ability to apply engineering principles and fundamental analysis techniques to characterize and evaluate hardware performance as it relates to the development of opto-mechanical and electro-optical hardware systems.
