Position Summary

The Senior Clinical Dietitian is responsible for the direct oversite of all Registered Dietitians. In addition to the lead responsibilities, the position also works as a Dietitian, so is responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of optimal nutritional care and education of patients in accordance with established standards of care.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participates in the interviewing, training, competency assessment and performance evaluations of the dieticians.
  • Coordinates and develops all clinical activities for the Food and Nutrition department, including policy development, performance improvement, development and monitoring Standards of Care Compliance, and Quality Assurance.
  • Assist in the development of the patient menus as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Provides nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy integrated with the patient’s medical goals.
  • Evaluates, interprets, monitors and documents the nutritional status and nutritional needs of inpatients, residential residents, partial hospitalization patients and outpatients using established standards of care and practice guidelines. Identifies and provides age-specific nutrition counseling to meet the cultural and spiritual needs of the patients and their families.
  • Inspects meals served for conformance to prescribed diets and for standards of palatability and appearance.
  • Directs the calculation and documentation of calorie counts/enteral intake.
  • Communicates nutrition needs and care issues to other health care providers via documentation in patient’s electronic medical record and via participation in interdisciplinary patient care rounds.
  • Develops, reviews, updates and implements educational materials and nutrition classes to meet the needs of patients and professionals.
  • Functions as an integral member of the clinical interdisciplinary team.
  • Provides on call weekend coverage on a rotating basis.
  • Maintains registered dietitian (RD) and licensed dietitian (LD) status including continuing professional education.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, or Nutritional Sciences
  • Licensed as a Registered Dietitian by the State of Ohio;
  • Certified as a Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration;
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in general clinical dietetics practice
  • Prior experience working with Eating Disorder Patients is preferred.
  • In depth knowledge of normal and therapeutic nutrition is required.
  • Ability to assess nutritional status and develop comprehensive care plans for all levels of nutritional risk patients is required;
  • Ability to enthusiastically follow and model the Lindner Center of HOPE (LCOH) mission, vision and values;
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-specific and developmentally appropriate care for the spectrum of populations admitted to LCOH.
