Position SummaryThe Post Doctoral Psychology Fellow applies psychological principles and techniques to provide clinical care to adult and adolescent patients. Provides diagnostic evaluations of each patient using empirically based tools and methods. Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats psychological and neuropsychological disorders. Provides ongoing individual and group therapy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a particular focus on developing an expertise in the treatment of anxiety disorders and OCD.
The Postdoctoral Fellows time will be spent primarily in Residential Services and outpatient. At the conclusion of the one-year fellowship, the Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to obtain independent licensure.
- Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to continuously address patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Actively solicits feedback from treatment team.
- Actively participates and contributes to the treatment team and patient care.
- Provides individual and group therapy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other techniques to achieve more effective personal and interpersonal adjustment.
- Maintains up to date training and experience in CBT, specifically in an intensive short term diagnostic treatment setting and OCD and anxiety disorders.
- Adapting or identifying specific components of CBT to improve patient outcomes and incorporating those into both individual and group treatment.
- Provide parent/patient education to promote continued treatment and wellness after discharge.
- Rounds on areas of responsibility to interact with patients, involving others and staff.
- Documentation
- Complete required clinical documentation related to direct individual interventions, and testing/assessments in a timely manner.
- Complete documentation of group application, attendance, and approach in a timely manner.
- Review treatment plan and be able to contribute to specific information to the treatment plan.
- Participate in the organization wide quality measures.
- Collaboration with millieu and other clinical staff
- May provide training to MHS and other direct care staff in the implementation of specific skills to promote improved patient outcomes.
- Coordinate implementation of those skill sets with the direct care and other clinical staff.
- Promotes and maintains safe and appropriate millieus, consistent with program millieus.
- Promotes professional relationships
- Facilitates inter and intra departmental communication to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
- Establishes & maintains an environment that embraces feedback and teamwork.
- Doctoral Degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Professional knowledge and clinical ability sufficient to provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment services for adults and adolescents with a wide range of psychological problems.
- Willingness to develop an expertise in working with individuals with OCD and severe anxiety disorders.
- Current experience and training with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
- Experience in clinical related research studies.
- Demonstrates an independent work initiative, sound judgment, diplomacy and a professional demeanor.
- Must have CPR certification or complete the course to receive it within the first 2 weeks of employment.
