About the Opportunity HR Business Partner

Our client is a growing engineering and technology company supporting highly regulated industries. The organization specializes in the design, repair, testing, and lifecycle support of high-reliability electronic systems where quality, compliance, and precision are critical.

The company is experiencing significant growth and expects to substantially expand its workforce over the next several years. As part of that growth, they are bringing Human Resources in-house and are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to build and own the HR function from the ground up.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who wants to make a meaningful impact, help shape the culture and processes of a growing organization, and eventually build and lead an HR team.

What You'll Do
  • Serve as the primary HR resource for the organization, partnering closely with leadership and employees.
  • Establish and maintain HR policies, procedures, and processes as the company continues to grow.
  • Provide guidance on employment laws, regulations, compliance, and employee relations.
  • Help develop and update the employee handbook and HR policies.
  • Manage onboarding processes, including I‑9 verification, new‑hire documentation, orientation, and employee setup.
  • Coordinate PTO administration and help establish consistent processes and practices.
  • Partner with the payroll provider and oversee payroll‑related HR administration.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR information within company systems.
  • Provide guidance and documentation related to employee disciplinary actions and performance issues.
  • Support employee terminations and other employee lifecycle activities.
  • Prepare and distribute offer letters and other employment documentation.
  • Assist with recruiting and hiring initiatives as the organization grows.
  • Develop and implement HR policies related to areas such as business travel and employee practices.
  • Partner with leadership on employee engagement, culture, training, and organizational development.
  • Support the company's extensive employee training requirements associated with operating in a highly regulated environment.
  • Handle the day‑to‑day administrative responsibilities necessary to keep the HR function running effectively.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and bring structure to a growing organization.
  • Serve as a trusted business partner and resource for employees and leadership.
What We're Looking For
  • Strong foundation in Human Resources with demonstrated knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and employee relations.
  • Experience working across multiple areas of HR rather than specializing exclusively in one function.
  • Ability and willingness to handle both strategic HR partnership and hands‑on day‑to‑day HR administration.
  • Proven ability to operate independently and build HR processes from the ground up.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, communication skills, and professionalism.
  • Motivated self‑starter who is comfortable wearing multiple hats in a growing organization.
  • Someone who is experienced and knowledgeable but still has significant career runway and wants to grow with a company.
  • Ability to build trust and establish strong relationships throughout an organization.
  • Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • High sense of ownership and accountability.
Preferred Background

Experience in energy, engineering, manufacturing, nuclear, aerospace, defense, or another highly regulated industry would be beneficial, particularly for candidates accustomed to environments with significant compliance and training requirements.

We are not specifically targeting a traditional long‑tenured manufacturing HR manager whose experience has been primarily focused on maintaining an established HR department. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys building, improving, and being hands‑on.

Technology

The organization currently utilizes:

  • Horizon Payroll
  • Quick Books
  • Employee timekeeping/clocking systems
  • HRIS platform is currently being evaluated
