Overview
We are seeking a skilled System Administrator to provide advanced support for our enterprise IT environment, including desktops, laptops, servers, applications, and related technologies. This mid-level role focuses on resolving complex technical issues, managing enterprise systems, and implementing IT projects that optimize operations. The System Administrator will also mentor junior engineers and service desk personnel while ensuring best practices for security, patching, and system management.
Key Responsibilities- Provide advanced support for end-user computing (EUC), including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and enterprise applications.
- Serve as a 3rd-level escalation point for issues originating at the service desk; assist junior engineers in troubleshooting complex technical problems.
- Administer Windows servers (2003, 2008, 2012+) and Active Directory environments, including user account management and group policies.
- Manage enterprise email systems (Microsoft Exchange) and collaborate on migrations or upgrades.
- Implement and maintain desktop and server antivirus solutions; enforce desktop security best practices.
- Perform imaging, patching, and lifecycle management for desktops and laptops using automated tools.
- Utilize scripting (Power Shell, VBScript) to automate tasks, streamline workflows, and solve technical challenges.
- Test and configure hardware, software, and peripherals for projects or operational needs.
- Monitor network connectivity, wireless infrastructure, and mobile devices (Windows, iOS, Android).
- Document technical processes, create training materials, and provide mentorship for service desk and junior engineers.
- Coordinate IT projects, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to enterprise IT standards.
- Work with all levels of employees, from entry-level staff to executives, to deliver seamless IT support.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, IT, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible technical experience in system administration, desktop support, or EUC engineering.
- Proficiency in Windows operating systems (7, 8, 10) and Microsoft Office suites.
- Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, and enterprise antivirus solutions.
- Strong scripting skills (Power Shell, VBScript) and experience with enterprise imaging/deployment tools.
- Knowledge of networking, wireless technologies, and mobile platforms.
- Experience managing security practices, backups, and virtualized environments (VMware).
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Strong documentation and training skills; ability to mentor junior engineers.
- Professional certifications preferred: MCSE, MCSA, CompTIA A+, CISSP, or equivalent.
