Job Description

On a highly autonomous basis, this person is to review routine transactional documents, including developer subcontracts in connection with the commercial installation of garage door products, commercial leases for Clopay’s nationwide network of distribution centers, non-disclosure agreements, and various purchase/supply/services agreements.

Accountabilities/Qualifications
  • University degree and a J.D. from a recognized law school required.
  • A minimum of 2+ years of broad experience as a corporate generalist, preferably from a combination of a law firm and an in-house corporate law department.
  • The flexibility and general legal experience to work autonomously and with little direction in a variety of areas to meet the company’s various needs for legal services.
  • Experience in: (1) Reviewing and negotiating with general contractors' construction subcontracts is a core and essential requirement; and (2) reviewing and negotiating commercial leases is also preferred and desirable but not required.
  • Experience with MS Office.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as legal documents and contracts, ability to write complex correspondence as well as the ability to speak effectively with in-house, outside or opposing counsel.
