Location:

This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.

The Associate General Counsel - Litigation is responsible for providing legal advice and strategic counsel on complex, high-impact litigation, and related projects. Focus of work is on large scale and/or high financial level projects with broad department and/or organizational impact and moderate level of risk. Works as a strategic partner and decision maker with more senior leaders and manages work independently.

A key focus of this position will as part of a newly created affirmative litigation program. This includes working with business clients and other internal stakeholders to identify litigation opportunities to recover over payments or damages, conducting an internal investigation, working with outside counsel to analysis and develop recommendations, then ultimately managing the litigation if filed. This role is enterprise-wide across all affiliates and subsidiaries and all lines of business.

The role is part of the litigation team and will include other responsibilities as assigned.

How you will make an impact:

  • Provide strategic legal advice and actionable recommendations that align with business objectives, obtain recoveries and mitigate risk.
  • Lead and manage affirmative litigation, including coordination with outside counsel, internal stakeholders, and budgets to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Applies knowledge of one or more legal specialties with sound business acumen and knowledge of the business goals and objectives as they relate to the legal matter at hand.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate legal projects.
  • Contributes to overall results of an SBU or CEE unit and/or department. Uses professional legal concepts and principles to contribute to development of company's concepts and principles.
  • May possess deep technical knowledge or broader scope of knowledge.
  • Provides instructions to junior members of the department and concise, timely briefings to senior level business and legal management.
  • Routinely works on complex problems in which analysis of situations and/or facts require an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
  • Serves as a resource for other attorneys and paralegals as well as business clients instructing and advising on technical and tactical issues.
  • Assesses and mitigates risk.
  • Reports to management any identified business exposure and associated risks as well as mitigation techniques being utilized.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a JD, current license to practice law, and a minimum of 9 years of specific industry and/or technical legal experience post licensure; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • Experience managing outside counsel strongly preferred.
  • Litigation experience preferred.

298,218 .
