Position: CNC GRIND-CBN HUFFMAN OPERATOR | 2ND SHIFT

CNC Grind-CBN Huffman Operator | 2nd Shift

Hi‑Tek Manufacturing (Operations/Productio Corporate, Mason, OH) is seeking an experienced CNC grind operator for the 2nd shift (Monday‑Friday, 3:30 pm–12:00 am) with a salary of $20‑$30+ per hour and a generous shift differential.

Essential Duties and Tasks

Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, the machinist will perform the following:

  • Set‑up and operate CNC machines (3‑ and 4‑axis milling, VTL, horizontal lathes, creep feed, 5‑axis grinders and grinding centers) to produce parts such as boring, facing, threading of castings, forgings, and bar stock.
  • Upload/download and edit CNC programs.
  • Analyze and interpret operating sheets, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and traveler sheets to meet customer specifications.
  • Operate multiple pieces of equipment simultaneously as required.
  • Verify conformance of finished work pieces using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, optical comparators, CMM).
  • Maintain working knowledge of CNC principles including G and M codes.
  • Select, align, and secure fixtures, tooling, and work pieces on machines.
  • Troubleshoot processes, adjust and reprogram controls, sharpen and replace tools as needed.
  • Analyze CMM reports and adjust machine offsets.
  • Perform first piece, in‑process and last‑piece inspection.
  • Deburr or rework work in‑process to specified tolerances.
  • Operate overhead crane when necessary.
  • Update control charts, travelers, and report labor in the ERP system.
  • Work in accordance with AS9100 quality standards and NADCAP accreditation.
  • Maintain a clean work environment through daily housekeeping.
  • Perform any additional duties that support company vision, mission, and values.
  • Communicate effectively with Quality, Engineering, and Management.
  • Follow Hi‑Tek policies and procedures, including proper PPE use.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred CNC machining certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Must meet ITAR §120.15 U.S. person definition.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Okuma controls is a plus.
  • Experience with G & M codes preferred.
  • Good technical math skills (shop math, geometry, trigonometry).
  • Experience in an industrial or aerospace manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical‑thinking skills.

Physical Demand Levels

  • Perform reaching, twisting, bending, lifting, and grasping routinely.
  • Use gross and fine motor skills to manage parts and tooling.
  • Maintain 20/20 vision (or corrected) and pass annual vision test.

Shift: Monday‑Friday, 3:30 pm–12:00 am (overtime may be required).

Pay: $20‑$30+ per hour, based on experience; there is a generous shift differential for the 2nd shift.
