Health & Safety Specialist

What you’ll do

• Create and implement safety plans/programs in accordance with OSHA Standards.
• Train employees in worksite safety practices by promoting and leading a site culture where safety is ingrained as a core value.
• Perform safety inspections of the production floor.
• Perform audits of the written safety program.
• Investigate accidents and near misses and provide corrective actions.
• Perform JSA and LOTO assessments.
• Train new employees on JSA for their respective areas.
• Maintain chemical inventory list.
• Ensure SDS sheets are current and up to date for all departments in IQS.
• Evaluate and assign all annual safety training needs for all VEGA employees.
• Manage Safety Skills platform.
• Maintain OSHA 300A log and report electronically through OSHA annually.
• Monitor subcontractors’ safety and compliance.
• Prepare and present reports on safety metrics.
• Ensure that employees consistently follow safety protocols.
• Coordinate and run the emergency response team.
• Manage hearing conservation program.
• Assist with annual fire and severe weather drills.
• Manage Uni First first aid and safety cabinets.
• Ensure all training is kept up to date for lift truck drivers, ERT, respirators, hearing conservation, etc.

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or related field.
• 3+ years of related experience or a combination of education and experience related to the position.
• OSHA 30 Certification.
