Senior Research Associate
Location:
Mason, OH 45040
Duration: 5 Months (Potential extension)
Shift: 1st (40 Hours/Week)
Pay Rate: $28.00/hr. on W2
Position Overview
The Senior Research Associate will support day-to-day laboratory operations by conducting hands-on experiments, analyzing data, and assisting in product and process development. This role focuses on building foundational scientific knowledge while executing well-defined experimental tasks and supporting research initiatives.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and eager to learn in a dynamic R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory & Research Work
- Perform hands-on laboratory experiments and procedural work
- Execute sample preparation and analysis using standard testing methods
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
- Document experimental procedures, observations, and results accurately
- Identify inconsistencies, errors, or unusual findings and escalate appropriately
- Support development of prototype products and technical understanding
- Analyze relationships between input variables and experimental outcomes
- Assist in improving lab processes, productivity, and efficiency
- Maintain compliance with safety standards and lab protocols
- Originate and revise product specifications using Enovia
- Route materials and standards for peer review and approval
- Understand relationships between master specifications, individual specs, and standards
- Work closely with cross-functional R&D teams
- Contribute ideas to improve experimental processes and workflows
- Participate in a collaborative, fast-paced innovation environment
- Associate's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical, or related field or High School Diploma with relevant hands-on experience
- 0-3 years of laboratory, R&D, or technical experience
- Basic math skills (algebra, geometry, trigonometry)
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and in team environments
- Experience with Enovia (specifications, routing, standards)
- Understanding of specification hierarchy (master vs individual specs)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, data comparison, analysis)
- Experience working with formulation data (e.g., fill weight sheets, product specs)
